About Tank Modifications in Last Z

Tank modifications are one of the most underrated power sources in Last Z: Survival Shooter. Most players focus on heroes and HQ levels, but a fully-modded tank quietly contributes more raw vehicle power than most research trees. There are 49 modifications across 8 tier groups, requiring a total of 70,700 wrenches to max out — a long-term goal even for active accounts.

The wrench economy

Wrenches are the dedicated currency for tank upgrades. You earn them from the Workshop building's daily production, from event milestones, and from the Lucky Discounter when your draws land on wrench bundles. Wrenches don't compete with anything else in your inventory, which is why this tool tracks them separately from badges and resources. Pacing matters: the early Cheetah and Hercules tiers are cheap, but the Destroyer-EX milestone alone is 35,300 wrenches — half the total budget for the entire mod tree.

Vehicle milestones

Completing certain mod thresholds unlocks (or upgrades) your active vehicle:

  • Cheetah — the starter vehicle. Unlocked at 150 wrenches.
  • Hercules — mid-game workhorse. Total unlock cost: 1,730 wrenches.
  • Destroyer — the standard end-game vehicle for most servers. 10,440 wrenches.
  • Destroyer-EX — the prestige vehicle, used in Capital Clash and major server rallies. 35,300 wrenches.

Once you've unlocked Destroyer, the remaining "stretch" mods are largely diminishing returns — you'll get more power per wrench at that point by feeding them into Special / Vehicle category bonuses than chasing the EX. Most non-whales sit at Destroyer with selective EX-tier mods.

How to use this tool

  • Use the category filters to focus on Tank, Special or Vehicle mods independently.
  • Stats rolls up every stat bonus you've unlocked across all mods into a single breakdown by category and tier.
  • The percentage and wrenches-left counters update in real time.

Strategy notes

For new accounts (HQ < 20), spend wrenches on whichever tier unlocks the next vehicle — the marginal power from upgrading from Cheetah to Hercules dwarfs anything else you could do with that budget. For mid-game accounts (HQ 20-28), focus on the categories that match your role: Attack mods for offence specialists, Defence mods if you anchor a hive, Health mods if you're a Capital Clash regular. Late-game (HQ 29+), it's wrench-rich and the question becomes whether to round-out Destroyer or start the Destroyer-EX grind — most players go EX only if they're in a top-3 alliance.
