Lucky Choice Chest

How to get real value from the Lucky Choice Chest without burning tens of thousands of diamonds.
Strategy by Falcon OP. The strategy in this guide comes from Falcon OP (Server 78) and his video “96,000 Diamonds for This?! Lucky Choice Chest Strategy”. Watch it for the full walkthrough. Z Tools has added the theme and prize tables and checked the numbers.

The Lucky Choice Chest is the fourth week of the diamond-spend rotation, after Lucky Discounter. You pick a theme, then spin a prize wheel. The Event Cycle tracker shows when it next runs on your server.

The Rules

These are the event's own rules, from its info page in game:

  1. Each draw opens the chest for a random reward from the wheel.
  2. Once you choose a theme, it cannot be changed for the rest of the event.
  3. Your first Grand Prize is guaranteed within 120 draws. After that, one is guaranteed every 240 draws. If you win the Grand Prize early, the count starts again.
  4. Reaching set numbers of draws unlocks bonus milestone chests.
  5. Ranking rewards arrive by mail after the event ends.

Costs and Odds

  • Each draw costs 800 diamonds.
  • You get free draws: roughly one a day, up to 7 per event. Always claim them before spending anything.
  • The Grand Prize has a 0.5% chance on any single draw. On the Hero Shard theme it is 40 Universal Orange Hero Fragments in one go.
  • The rest of the wheel's 10 slices pay smaller amounts of your theme's item, plus purple fragments, speed-ups and resource chests. The full table is below.

What a run of draws costs, and your chance of having landed the Grand Prize by then:

DrawsDiamondsAfter 7 free drawsChance of the Grand Prize
75,60003.4%
2016,00010,4009.5%
4032,00026,40018.2%
8064,00058,40033.0%
10080,00074,40039.4%
12096,00090,400Guaranteed

Without the guarantee, a 0.5% prize takes 200 draws on average: 160,000 diamonds. The 120-draw guarantee caps it at 96,000, and if you stop the moment you win, the average spend works out at about 67,000 diamonds once your free draws are counted.

The Themes

Before your first draw you pick a theme. It decides the Grand Prize and what most of the wheel pays, and it cannot be changed for the rest of the event. The choice screen in a September 2026 event offered five:

ThemeWhat it pays
Hero ShardUniversal Orange Hero Fragments, which can be exchanged for fragments of any orange hero you have recruited
Exclusive Equipment ShardExclusive Equipment fragments for your heroes
Skill BookHero skill books
Vehicle Modification PartParts for modifying your vehicles
Awakening BadgeAwakening badges for SS heroes

Which themes are offered can differ between servers and events, so check the choice screen before you commit.

The Prizes

The wheel has 10 slices with fixed odds, shown on the event's info page. This is the full table for the Hero Shard theme (October 2026). Other themes swap in their own item at similar odds.

PrizeChance per draw
40 Universal Orange Hero Fragments (Grand Prize)0.5%
5 Universal Orange Hero Fragments5.85%
2 Universal Orange Hero Fragments14.63%
1 Universal Orange Hero Fragment23.44%
3 Purple Hero Fragments5.85%
2 Purple Hero Fragments8.78%
4 × 15-minute speed-ups11.7%
8 × 15-minute speed-ups5.85%
10 Wood chests11.7%
10 Food chests11.7%

So almost half of all draws (about 44%) pay orange fragments, but usually only 1 or 2 at a time. On average a draw is worth about 1 orange fragment, so 20 draws gives roughly 20, plus the milestone chests.

Milestone chests

Extra chests unlock at 10, 20, 40, 100, 250 and 500 draws, and they add up quickly:

  • 10 and 20 draws: 5 Universal Orange Hero Fragments each, among other items.
  • 100 draws: 10 Universal Orange Hero Fragments, 20 Purple Hero Fragments and 500,000 Hero EXP, among other items.
  • 250 draws: 20 Universal Orange Hero Fragments, 100 Gift Vouchers and 30 Purple Hero Fragments, among other items.
  • 500 draws: headlined by 50 Universal Orange Hero Fragments.

Rankings

The top 100 players by number of draws earn ranking rewards by mail when the event ends. First place gets the Golden Vault, an event-exclusive avatar frame that lasts 21 days, among other rewards.

The One Rule: Stop When You Win

The moment you win the Grand Prize, stop spinning. No “one more”. The guarantee then resets to 240 draws away, which is up to 192,000 diamonds. Every draw after an early win is the worst-value draw in the event: a flat 0.5% chance with no safety net.

Winning early is the best outcome there is. Land it on draw 30 and you have paid 24,000 diamonds for something that is guaranteed to cost 96,000 at most. The mistake is feeling lucky and carrying on: that is exactly when the odds turn hardest against you.

Never Quit Just Short of 120

The other side of the same rule: if you are on draw 100 or so with no Grand Prize, the last draws are the best value in the event. From 100 you are only 16,000 diamonds from a certain Grand Prize. Stopping at 110 throws that away.

So decide your ceiling before your first draw, and for most players who go for it, that ceiling is 120. Spin towards it, stop the moment you win, and if you reach 120 the guarantee pays out. Then stop.

Strategy by Player

Free-to-play and low spenders

  • Take all 7 free draws every time the event runs.
  • Fund Lucky Discounter first. Falcon OP estimates 96,000 diamonds spent in Lucky Discounter's good discount windows buys around 320,000 badges: far more permanent power than one Grand Prize. See the Lucky Discounter guide.
  • Only with genuinely spare diamonds, go as far as the 40-draw milestone (32,000 diamonds). Treat a Grand Prize as a bonus, not the goal: at 40 draws there is still an 82% chance you will not have it.
  • If you land it early, stop and enjoy it.

Moderate and heavy spenders

  • The full 120-draw push is a reasonable target: about 67,000 diamonds on average and 90,400 at worst after free draws, with plenty of smaller fragment hits along the way.
  • The stop rule still applies, however many diamonds you have.
  • Never chase a second Grand Prize in the same event. 192,000 diamonds for the next guarantee is poor value for almost any account.
  • If you are spending heavily anyway, check the Rankings tab: being close to a reward tier can tip a borderline decision.

Which Theme to Choose

The theme locks the moment you choose it, so pick what is hardest for you to get anywhere else:

  • Hero Shard (Universal Orange Hero Fragments) is the strongest default. They are among the most limited materials in Last Z. See easy orange fragments for other sources.
  • Exclusive Equipment Shard, Skill Book or Vehicle Modification Part are good choices if one of them is what is holding your account back right now.
  • Falcon OP advises against picking badges, because Lucky Discounter gives badges at far better value. Let this event pay for something Lucky Discounter cannot.

Quick Checklist

  1. Claim every free draw (up to 7).
  2. Choose your theme deliberately. It cannot be changed.
  3. Set your ceiling before you start: 40 draws if you are only dipping in, 120 if you are going for the Grand Prize.
  4. Stop the instant you win the Grand Prize.
  5. Never stop just short of 120 if you are chasing it.
  6. Fund Lucky Discounter before spending big here.

Rules can change between seasons. Check the event's info page in game before you spend.
