Volcano War

Everything you need for Volcano War: how the 10 days run, Normal or Hard Mode, what every building is worth, the rewards and how to win the one-hour battle.

What Is Volcano War?

Volcano War is a state-versus-state event. The game groups states of similar strength and sets them against each other as two sides, called camps: the Attackers and the Defenders. You cannot choose your side.

The battle is fought over Blackridge Volcano, a volcanic area that appears inside the Defender's state. It lasts exactly one hour, and the camp with more camp points when time runs out wins.

Expect heavy losses. Fights over buildings leave 10% of troops dead, 10% severely injured and 80% lightly injured. Have your hospital capacity, healing speed-ups and resources ready before day 6.

Who Can Take Part

  • Your HQ must be level 15 or higher to teleport into the volcanic area.
  • You need at least 2,000 contribution in the battle to claim a ranking reward.
  • Your state's President runs the event for the state: negotiating, sending invitations, choosing Hard Mode and sharing out the spoils.

The 10-Day Schedule

The event runs in eight phases over ten days. The event screen shows a countdown for each one.

DayPhaseWhat happens
1PublicityThe groupings are revealed: which states are Attackers and which are Defenders.
2CommsPresidents of grouped states talk to states that are not yet grouped. The Defender decides whether to take on Hard Mode.
3–4InvitationPresidents invite ungrouped states to join their camp. Only one invitation can be out at a time. It lasts 1 hour, and no reply counts as a refusal.
End of 4System AllocationAny state still ungrouped is placed at random. These states add nothing to the prize pool and cannot receive shared-out rewards.
5Battle PrepPlan who goes where, stock up and heal.
6BattleStarts at 12:00 Apocalypse Time (14:00 UK time) and lasts 1 hour.
7–8President distributionPresidents share the spoils out between alliances.
9–10Alliance distributionR4s and R5s share their alliance's spoils with their best members.

Being placed by System Allocation is the worst outcome: you fight for nothing from the prize pool. Presidents should make sure the state is invited or inviting before day 4 ends.

Normal Mode or Hard Mode

In Normal Mode, each side may bring in other states by invitation, so a typical battle is two states against two.

In Hard Mode, chosen by the Defender during Comms on day 2:

  • The Defender cannot invite any partner states.
  • The Attackers can bring up to 3 states, so it can be one against three.
  • The Defender gets a powerful combat buff. Players report it as +100% healing speed and −40% free-teleport cooldown rather than extra attack.
  • The Defender's prize pool is tripled, and the camp rewards are bigger, win or lose.

Only pick Hard Mode if your state is genuinely strong, active and organised. Close one-against-three battles have been lost on the last few minutes. One well-organised Defender, however, won 2,368,263 to 523,209 camp points (82% to 18%) against three states.

The Battlefield

The map is a hexagon around the volcano: Blackridge Volcano in the centre, three special buildings on the inner ring and six Lava Pools on the outer ring. Energy Mines are scattered around them, and the closer to the core, the better the mine.

BuildingCamp pointsYour pointsBonus while held

Lava Furnace80 a second60 a second+20% damage in the volcanic area

Advanced / Medium / Basic Energy Mine—20 / 10 / 5 a second—
Defeating enemy troops—120 per 10,000 power defeated—

Camp points decide who wins. Your points decide your personal milestones and ranking.

Holding the volcano and all three special buildings for the whole hour is worth roughly 1 million personal points. Burning enemy HQs is much faster: one top player scored over 17 million, mostly by attacking HQs near contested buildings.

Battle Rules

  • The eruption: when the battle starts, every HQ inside the battle area is moved outside. Do not bother positioning early. Teleport in when it starts.
  • Teleporting in from outside during the battle is free. Teleporting within the volcanic area is also free, with a 5-minute cooldown.
  • No teleporting in the volcanic core, and no Peace Shields in the central area.
  • Cross-state teleport cooldowns are shared with State Duel.
  • Since the 31 August 2026 update, your own camp's troops can no longer hit each other or your captured buildings, and destroyed HQs leave ruins.
  • Fights over buildings leave 10% dead, 10% severely injured and 80% lightly injured.

Rewards

1. The prize pool (shared by Presidents and R4/R5s)

Each camp has a prize pool of chests: 10 gold, 20 blue, 30 bronze and 50 green to start with. It grows with multipliers:

How the pool is split between states is fixed when the Invitation phase ends. Chest contents change with the season. In Season 4 a gold chest held 10 S4 Hero Fragment Choice Boxes, 10 Forging Stones and 5 × 50-diamond packs. In Season 5 players report Awakening Badge choice boxes, Forging Stones and diamonds.

2. Camp rewards (every member of the camp)

In Season 4 the choice boxes offered Amber, Queenie or Yu Chan fragments, and Atropos, Ifrit or Azure Rime exclusive equipment.

3. Personal milestones

Your own points unlock milestone rewards at 10,000, 15,000, 25,000, 40,000, 60,000, 100,000, 150,000, 250,000 and 400,000 points: Valor Medals, Forging Stones, 50-diamond packs and Blue EXP chests. Everything is unlocked by 400,000. Points beyond that only count for ranking.

4. Rankings

Ranking rewards go down to rank 2,000, and you need at least 2,000 contribution to claim them.

How to Win

Before the battle (days 1–5)

  • Presidents: secure a partner state early. Each successful invitation doubles your prize pool, and being left for System Allocation costs your state its share.
  • Decide Hard Mode honestly on day 2. Only take it on with a strong, active state.
  • Assign roles on Battle Prep day. Usually the strongest alliance takes the volcano, and other alliances take the Energy Tower, Lava Furnace, Radiation Warehouse and the Lava Pools. Name your rally leads and scouts.
  • Prepare: heal everything, clear hospital space, stock healing and training speed-ups, food, wood and plenty of fuel (top players use 2,000 to 3,000), and both advanced and random teleporters.
  • Unlock a 4th formation if you can, and leave strong defensive heroes on your wall.

During the battle (day 6)

  • Don't teleport in early. The eruption moves everyone out. Teleport straight to your assignment when the battle starts.
  • Take the three special buildings first. Their bonuses (+10% camp points, +20% damage, +50% destruction) make every other fight easier. Then hold the volcano.
  • Keep every formation busy for the whole hour. Idle troops earn nothing.
  • For personal points, attack weak enemy HQs near the buildings you are contesting. Check your battle reports for the power you actually removed.
  • Use random teleporters to escape if you are being farmed, and remember there are no shields in the core.

Quick Checklist

  1. HQ level 15 or higher.
  2. Hospital empty, healing speed-ups and resources stocked.
  3. Fuel, advanced and random teleporters ready.
  4. Know your assignment before day 6.
  5. Teleport in at 12:00 Apocalypse Time, not before.
  6. Reach at least 2,000 contribution, and aim for 400,000 points for every milestone.

How the Rules Have Changed

Volcano War first appeared in January 2026 and has changed since. Older guides and videos may describe the earlier version:

  • January 2026: different points (Blackridge Volcano 700 a second, Lava Pools 300), points for durability destroyed and for being in the area, no Energy Tower, Lava Furnace or Radiation Warehouse, and only the top 200 players per state counted towards the score.
  • By May 2026: the current points table and the three special buildings above.
  • 31 August 2026 update: no damage to your own camp, ruins for destroyed HQs, a larger map with some buildings moved, the 10/10/80 injury split for building fights, and alliances able to receive up to 100 shares in President distribution.

Rules can change again between seasons. Always check the event's Rules tab in game.
